Another Wonderful Stay in a Mountain-Home Cabin

My mom and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in at Madison Valley Overlook! Having stayed at several Mountain-Home rentals in the past 7 years, this did not disappoint. In fact, each stay keeps getting better and better. The views from the deck (whether you are lounging at the picnic table or in the hot tub) are phenomenal! The interior of the cabin is a dream - beautiful great room and kitchen, huge master bed and bathroom, and amazing gas stove for all of our cooking. Private location, yet minutes from Ennis if you need to grab groceries, etc. We took one day to drive Gravelly Range Road (a must if you have the time) but most of our time was spent on the deck looking at the Madison Range or the stars. Nice touch to have wifi to connect "home" if you want to. If you are looking for a rental with a stellar view and privacy, this is the place! We already booked our next Mountain-Home cabin!

My mom and I spent 4 glorious nights here and, as with previous Mountain Home rentals, we were beyond impressed! The hot tub on the deck with the amazing views of the Madison Range and Madison Valley were phenomenal. The grill and Wolf stove/oven to home cook meals were a major plus. We went for a ride in the Gravelly Range and spent an afternoon in Ennis but to be honest... the best part of this trip was the time spent at this cabin on the deck! We would definitely return to this lovely gem in the Madison Valley and we love renting from Mountain Home!

My wife and I had never been to Montana together, and it has been on my bucket list for the last 10 years. Somehow I found the Mountain-Home website, and found what appeared to be our perfect destination, the Madison Valley Overlook. We wished a luxurious secluded cabin with outstanding views, and this was accomplished and then some! Our first impression of the home was REALLY, this is going to be an outstanding week! The house was neat and clean, plenty of storage and living space. The master bedroom is large and comfortable, and had plenty of storage for both of our belongings. Great views with the window and patio shades drawn open, only at night; Montana air conditioning you know.  We enjoyed the daily drive up to our home for the week. The road was not problem for our rental, a Ford Expedition. I would not recommend trying to drive a sports car to this destination though. We also had a fun time exploring the road past our home which was all vacant land. We read all the posts that you should not rely on GPS to reach this destination however, we carry Verizon which got us there just fine. There were dead zones in the state, but to this particular location, no issue. This is a great destination for a family retreat as the home contains all the amenities needed. The home is centrally located to outstanding destinations, and is certainly a location in which we will rediscover in the future. I highly recommend, and HAVE highly recommended this location, as well as company to others!

This was without a doubt the best cabin to stay in while in Montana! The views from anywhere in or around the house were amazing and the home itself was impeccable. Very clean and well stocked to say the least and every amenity was thought of to make this property second to none. Only about an hour from yellowstone and 3 hours from the grand Tetons, however with the scenic roads, it felt like 5 minutes. The local town of Ennis offers excellent restaurants and friendly store fronts. We saw a large variety of wildlife including magpie, deer, pronghorn antelope, ground squirrels, and a den of foxes every day. To say the least, this was a trip that the team at mountain home helped make amazing and memorable.

We loved our stay at this beautiful home. The views are amazing. The home is spacious with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a loft with bed and piano, dining area, large family room, laundry area and a great kitchen. The kitchen is well stocked with everything to prepare and serve meals. There is a large deck with a BBQ, spa and patio table. Everything is very comfortable and relaxing. The home overlooks the valley and is very private and peaceful, which is exactly what we were looking for. It was nice hearing and seeing birds, deer, bunnies and ground squirrels during our stay. The dirt road leading to the home is very private and a little bumpy but we didn't mind the bumps. The home is close to town and fishing is nearby. If you are looking for a beautiful home with amazing views.... this is it!

We stayed at the Madison Valley Overlook for 21 days in July 2016 and wished we could have stayed longer. The house is exactly as advertised, but there is no way to describe the beautiful views and the peaceful feeling that you experience while there. The house is beautiful and very well appointed. The Master Bedroom offers wonderful privacy from the other bedrooms which are also private from the main living quarters. We enjoyed the hot tub almost every night. The deck is a a great place to sit and read and enjoy morning coffee or evening wine. The house is secluded without being isolated. A 10 minute drive to Ennis which has everything you need. Upon arrival, the outdoor grill wasn't working properly - we had a new one within 24 hours. The beds were unbelievably comfortable. WiFi was great which allowed us to do a little work while there (that is if you can tear yourself away the views). I cannot say enough good things about the house and the rental experience. Virginia City is a short drive away as well as the Gravely Mountain Range and outstanding fishing in the Madison River. I highly recommend this house to anyone who wants to experience the friendliness and peacefulness of Montana.

Madison Valley Overlook felt very welcoming and comfortable. It had everything we needed and more. Loved our 10 days at this house! Views, wildlife, peace and quiet, lovely amenities. We felt like beloved guests in someone's nicely furnished home. The wood floors are great. Loved the dirt road, the sagebrush, the wildflowers, prairie dogs. A pronghorn walked by the porch one day. Kitchen was very well stocked and had nice appliances! Bathrooms were lovely and clean. We used the hot tub every evening. Our 15 year-old daughter enjoyed the piano in the loft. Drove past a few nice homes (neighbors' homes which you can see from the deck) on the dirt road that leads to this house. My husband is a fly fisherman (wading), so he drove about 30 minutes to get to various fishing spots on the Madison River--he favored the Palisades and Ruby Creek areas. He also went to Beartrap Canyon a couple of times. We stocked up at the grocery store in Ennis and ate most meals at the house, but enjoyed a delicious steak dinner at McAllister Inn. There was a nicely stocked pantry and kitchen cabinets had spices, oils, even cereal! We were there in late May/early June with some rainy, chilly days so we enjoyed the gas fireplace which warmed up the house quickly and gave it a cozy feeling. Plenty of books, guides, and magazines to read. Internet worked fine. Close to Virginia City & Nevada City, but we just passed through there on our drive to Dillon (beautiful scenery the entire way). Drove to Yellowstone NP twice, and saw the Tetons as well. Also a pretty drive to Bozeman from here. This area is a photographer's dream. Took one last look back through the big living room windows as we were heading out the front door for the final time, and I had a lump in my throat saying goodbye to this house and these soul-filling surroundings! And we surely miss the delicious taste of Montana water!

This property (once you actually get to it) is fantastic. Forget GPS - and even with rental agent's instructions we still struggled to find it. Make sure you arrive in Ennis at least an hour before sunset. Chances of finding this house for the first time in the dark are slim to none! It's a beautiful house. Well equipped. I do agree with previous vacationers about the cleanliness...they really need to speak with the cleaner. Day 1 we had to evict a mouse that had taken up residence in the grill (the nest must have been there weeks and totally clogged up one set of burners). Day 2 the wind picked up and moved our bedroom curtains, revealing pain pill wrappers and some ladies underwear left by a previous tenant! Lots of cobwebs, and the dusty kind that don't appear overnight. Pity because it did detract, (who wants to have to clean a rental home when they arrive). That said, the house is beautiful. Views are stunning. Beds are comfortable. Surrounded by wild flowers (in July that is). Abundant wild life...rabbits...hummingbirds came to visit daily. The town of Ennis is a gem. We were fortunate enough to be there for the July 4th parade and the locals are wonderful. Don't come here and expect great cell phone / internet connection. But if you're looking to unwind and leave the work Blackberry/laptop at home, this is most definitely the place.

This home is absolutely gorgeous ! The view from it is also amazing. Wake up in the morning to the sun coming in from floor to ceiling windows - it was really spectacular ! The house is high up, a bit remote to get to, but worth the trip up the rough road ! Everything in the home is high end. Every convience you could ask for, including a hot tub on the deck ! We loved it and will return !!

"our" mountain home vacation was wonderful. It certainly is out of the way. We thought at first that we might be lost. The road going to the cabin is more like a cow path, but when you get to the house it is amazing. The directions given by Mountain Vacation Homes Rentals are right on. You should not depend on GPS to find this wonderful gem. The views are beautiful. It was a very relaxing place to be. It is about 1 hr. 15 min. away from Yellowstone. The ride to Yellowstone was very relaxing with wonderful views. The house had all the modern conveniences you could ask for. Washer, Dryer, big screen TV with satellite. The kitchen had everything and more that you needed. The only thing my husband and I noticed was some of the cleanliness of the home. There were cobwebs everywhere. I understand that some of the places the cobwebs were might have been difficult to reach because of the vaulted ceilings, but we saw many around curtain rods and lamp shades, baseboards, and windows. The range hood was covered with grease. My husband cleaned the inside of the windows, in the living room, because you could not see the beautiful view very well. Even though the house was not cleaned the way we would like to have it we would still recommend this home for a relaxing time away. Enjoy

Had a great stay and the views were great! The only complaints I might have about this home is the road to get to it and the small tv in the master bedroom! Everything was well stocked in the kitchen even though quit a few of the spices were expired. Any problems we had were quickly taken care of and even got to witness a mini blizzard early one morning! Would highly recommend this place for a quiet get away!
