We spent 3 nights here as our base for exploring the Mammoth Springs area of Yellowstone. We also spent a day entirely at the house just recharging and getting away from the crowds in the park. The home is every bit as good as the pictures and description. The kids loved the bonus room downstairs, although we couldn't get the Wii to work. Fully equipped kitchen (with Keurig AND regular coffee pot), the beds were very comfortable, everything was clean as a whistle, and we had everything we needed - from a garage full of fire wood to camp chairs, citronella candles, tons of towels - including ones for the hot tub, fans, flashlights, and bug spray. Unfortunately that was the only negative of our entire stay - the wet spring meant an influx of mosquitoes. When the wind wasn't blowing they absolutely swarmed you. From reading the guestbook it sounds like this happens most years around the end of June to start of July and lasts a few weeks, so really just bad luck on the timing meant we weren't able to use the fire pit, hot tub, deck and other outdoor features as much as we'd hoped. I'm from Arkansas and have spent many a summer night in the delta of the Mississippi River but have never seen anything like the swarms we encountered. They did die down once it cooled off at night so we were able to enjoy the magnificent view of the river, mountains, and sky from the hot tub - we even got to watch a great horned owl do some hunting. This time of year it is about 11pm before it gets dark enough to really see the stars, it's amazing! We would absolutely stay in Chicory on the Yellowstone again, we'll just be sure to do it in the spring or late summer next time.
Manager Response:
Hello Jason - Thank for being our guests at Chicory on the Yellowstone and we're glad you had such a good time there. You are right - we do have a very short mosquito season in that area of the Yellowstone River. It's short-lived but we sort of got it big this year after an unusually wet spring. The upside is that all those bugs make a great food source for fish and other wildlife. We hope that you'll come stay again and stay longer so you can fully enjoy the amenities and have even more adventures out and about in the area. - Suzy and the rest of the Mountain Home crew

We are a family of 5 adults and had a comfotable and pleasant stay. Regret that we didn’t spend more time at the home. We were able to prepare good meals, although the selection of sharp knives was less than optimal. Very pleasant surroundings! Felt very much at home, space enough for us all. Wonderful with two bathrooms! Refrigerator did make a fair amount of noise in the early morning hours and disturbed sleep which is why the rating is 4 instead of 5 stars.
Manager Response:
Hi Cindy Lee - We're thrilled to hear that Chicory on the Yellowstone was a good fit for your group. Your comment about wishing you had more time to just be at the home is a common one. Sometimes people are so busy exploring, there's not much time left to breathe deep and just hang out! You'll have to plan another visit for that. We appreciate the comment about the fridge, and we had our handyman take a look at it. Thank you again fro being our guests - Suzy

We just rented your lovely home in June 2018. Home is beautifully decorated and very clean and is equipped with everything you might need along with some luxuries (Jacuzzi!). The views from the backyard and the front are breathtaking! We had a great time and we already plan on returning later this year. Home is very well located whether you want to go into downtown Bozeman, Livingston, Chico Hot Springs or head towards Yellowstone. There is so much to do in the surrounding areas! But this is also the home to go to if you want some downtime to relax in beautiful surroundings or fish from the river in your backyard or hike the trail down the road. Cannot wait to come back!
Manager Response:
Hi Dana - Thanks for your comments about Chicory on the Yellowstone, and we'll happy to hear that you had such a good time there. We hope that you DO come back, and soon. How about July of next year?? - Suzy

This is a very romantic cabin on the banks of the yellowstone river. I brought my girlfriend here - it was her first time visit to Yellowstone park. This home just is amazing and unbelievable. There is a fire pit on the back yard by the bank of the river. The decor in the home is a mix of modern rustic. The views are phenomenal. Its a 40 minute drive to Gardiner. Chico Hot springs is 8 minutes drive. My GF and I had dinner at the Tasting Room in Chico and then I proposed at the back of the property by the bank of the river. I had arranged about 600 tea lights popping the question to her. The flat backyard towards the river was idea for that. The part of the backyard by the hot tub is a bit of a steep slope which added drastic charm to this property. It was a very romantic experience for us. The hot tub was excellent. The house can easily accommodate 4 adults and 2 kids etc. Its a great house for a big family. Staff was very nice and gave us very good directions to get to the property. At night - you can see millions of stars in the sky. So bring your binoculars too. Probably the best cabin I have stayed at.
Manager Response:
Well Raj and Anastasia, this may be the very best review of one of our homes - ever! It makes us so happy to know that the home made a perfect setting for your proposal and engagement. Congratulations! We hope that you'll be back to Montana and to Yellowstone again soon. Honeymoon? (hint, hint) - The gals at Mountain Home

This house is fantastic! It was the perfect cozy spot for our getaway. When we weren't exploring Yellowstone or the other cute towns in the area, we spent entire days just lazing around the house, watching the river flow by, making meals in the well-stocked kitchen, and—of course—soaking in the hot tub under the stars. The views are unbeatable, and the remote location helps you feel like you're really getting away from it all. The house is super-cute, the beds are comfortable, and it's packed with amenities. Our only quibbles are so tiny, I think they show how great this house is: the upstairs bedroom is pretty small and doesn't have shelves/dressers, and the smoke detector and the toaster did not get along. But that's really it. We loved this place, and we'd come back in a heartbeat! It's the perfect spot for getting off the grid and living well.
Manager Response:
Wow Jonathan, it sounds like you had an amazing vacation. We're so happy that Chicory on the Yellowstone was a good fit for you and that you enjoyed all the amenities of the home. Thank you for being our guests and please come back soon. -The crew at Mountain Home P.S. We'll look into that pesky smoke detector. Thanks for the heads-up.

This home was amazing! The pictures do not do it justice! We will definitely be back! The home was beautiful and had everything you could possibly need. It is centrally located between Livingston and Yellowstone. Chico Hot Springs was close by and we enjoyed eating and shopping there. The view from the hot tub was gorgeous, especially, when it was snowing. We have some great pictures and hope to be back again. The home is huge and definitely big enough for a family to visit and everyone have their personal space!

We absolutely loved the location and house! I am ready to go back NOW. :) We could hear elk bugling from while we were sitting in the hot tub. We even went into the Yellowstone river just to say we did it. The hot tub was inviting after that! There was a small grocery about 5 minuets away that was well stocked for such a tiny place and town. We enjoyed eating at the Rivers Edge Bar & Grill, the local spot. They had outdoor seating where you could have a beer and enjoy the amazing scenery. Every night we were there we used the indoor fireplace. The master bed was plush and inviting, though a king would have been perfection. I would definitely like to return.
